From Peter’s Desk – April 2017 – Volunteer Month

Volunteers are beloved in every organiza-tion. I am always moved by the fact that they are unpaid, working alongside those of us who ARE paid. And they do a tremendous amount of work, just because they are passionate about the mission. Our VRH volunteers come in many forms. Greeters, runners, admin helpers, Trustees, Overseers, patient sitters—you name it, and a volunteer is probably doing it. April is National Volunteer Month, so if you see one of our loyal volunteers, be sure to say thanks!

Volunteer Opportunities

I wanted to take a moment to let Team Valley know about the amazing volun-teer projects we are working on. Our volunteer team is updating the display cases throughout the hospital, sending out mailings for all upcoming Spring events, helping with event planning and so much more.
We have volunteers assisting in Billing, Community Engagement, IT and Radiology, as greeters at the Dunning Street lobby, and helping our Med/Surg unit with patient sitting/companionship. Our volunteers are gearing up to assist with Physician Practices by providing appointment confirmation calls.

Celebrate Our Volunteers

The month of April is Volunteer appreciation month. To celebrate we are hosting a Volunteer Luncheon April 26th. Team Valley’s volunteer’s not only include the people that greet staff, patients and visitors at our Dunning Street entrance, but include escorting patients day to day, PFAC, LUAS, Board members as well as our organizations Overseers. So when you see a volunteer, say hi or ask how they are doing; everyone’s help in appreciating all they do for us and the community will ensure a successful volunteer program that will flourish in the future. Volunteers are the lifeline of our Valley community. If you have not yet had the benefit of working with one of our volunteers and would like to, please contact Nichole Nash x3493.

New Faces Welcome our new volunteers:

Shania will be volunteering in Med/Surg as well as Urgent Care, when needed.
Ursela will be volunteering in Occupational Health.
Crystal will be volunteering as a floater… a little bit of everywhere.
