Valley Regional Hospital's Food Service ProgramWhether as a patient in our care or as a visitor to the hospital, nutritious meals are an important part of your day. Valley Regional Hospital makes every effort to provide healthy food choices and attractive meals that are prepared according to your doctor's orders. Patients are served breakfast between 7:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.; lunch between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; and dinner between 4:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasionally, your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test.
Valley Regional Hospital's Nutrition Service Department uses a "Spoken Menu" system. A Nutrition Service representative will visit you prior to each mealtime to take your food order. You will be asked to choose between two daily specials. If the specials of the day do not interest you, alternatives are available that fit within your diet. If your physician orders a special or restricted diet, a registered dietitian will visit you to explain the diet. Additional nourishments are available on the nursing unit. The nursing staff will provide you with a beverage or light snack between meals if you desire. Family members or friends may purchase meals for themselves from the cafeteria to take into a patient room on a medical unit during visiting hours. If a visitor does not want to go to the cafeteria, a guest meal tray can be delivered to a patient room for a fee. Parents of hospitalized children under 12 years of age and the birthing partner of patients on the Maternal Child Health Unit are entitled to free guest meals. Guest meals are only delivered with regular meal service and need to be ordered prior to 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11:30 a.m. for lunch, and 4:30 p.m. for dinner. The selection of items for guest meals is subject to availability.
Our goal is to exceed your expectations by providing quality service. If you have any questions or concerns about your meal service, please ask your nurse to contact a Nutrition Service representative. Cafeteria The cafeteria is located on the first floor and is open to visitors and patients during the following hours: Weekdays: Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Weekends: Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.Vending Machines Vending machines for snacks and beverages are located on the first floor.
