Maternal Child HealthFriendly, caring professionals every step of the way, the finest in technology and birthing facilities are available to you on theMaternal/Child Health Unit at Valley Regional Hospital. Valley Regional offers five fully equipped birthing rooms to accommodate your family with the warmth and comfort of home along with the latest in technology for confidence of care, comfort, security and good health.
Our birthing rooms resemble hotel suites and are complete with a private bath, vanity, television and plenty of room for family members and birth partners to visit and participate in your birth experience. A pullout couch is available in each room for anyone staying who needs to catch a catnap or spend the night. Designed for privacy and convenience, our patient rooms double as birthing rooms. You stay in your very own room throughout the birthing experience and after the baby is born. Called Single Room Maternity Care, this family-oriented philosophy of birth care recognizes the importance of family life in the birth process.
We offer warm water immersion in our soothing hydrotherapy tub. Deep enough for the laboring mom to truly relax, float or achieve any position that helps her during this exciting time. Many women have found that their labors have been shorter and that they have needed less pain medication with use of this tub. Support During Labor Each patient has her own nurse who will follow her and help her through labor. All our nurses are specially trained in labor support, and most have given birth here at Valley Regional Hospital, themselves!! We nurses offer a deep commitment to helping women birth in the manner they choose, and welcome family participation. Medication During Labor For those who choose medication our Maternity Unit offers state of the art pain relief through I.V. medications and epidural anesthesia There is always an anesthetist on call and readily available to assist our moms. Breastfeeding Services We promote early bonding with your baby, whether bottle feeding or breast.... and encourage breastfeeding moms to nurse right after birth, when the baby is most receptive to nursing. All nurses are trained in breastfeeding support and there are three lactation consultants on staff. |
