College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accreditation

Valley Regional Hospital's Laboratory receives accreditation from the College of American Pathologists

Last year, Valley Regional Hospital was awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection.

During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff's qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory's patients.

"Our staff deserves a big thank you for their endeavors in maintaining such a quality Laboratory," said Barbara Devoy, Manager of Valley Regional Hospital's Clinical Laboratory. "I am very proud of them."

Devoy showed her gratitude to other departments within Valley Regional Hospital who contributed to the ongoing efforts to keep the Laboratory running efficiently and gave special recognition to Environmental Services for their many proactive sanitary projects.

Barbara Devoy was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the "excellence of the services being provided." Valley Regional Hospital is one of the more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM- 9:30 PM

Saturday, 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM

Closed during holidays.

Monday through Friday after hours laboratory tests are available. Access Lab services through the hospital's Emergency Department Admitting office. You will be seen by a Laboratory Technician and registered as an outpatient for services, even though you enter through the Emergency Room.
